Pocket Tools › Page Size & Margins — Custom Paper Size

Google Docs add-on

Any page size. Not just the eleven presets.

Google Docs lets you pick from eleven paper sizes and that is it — there is no box to type 6″ × 9″ into. This add-on adds that box, plus the book trim sizes that self-publishers actually use.

What it is

A sidebar for Google Docs that sets the page dimensions the built-in Page setup dialog cannot: custom width and height, margins, and book trim presets — including the KDP paperback sizes such as 5″×8″, 5.5″×8.5″ and 6″×9″. The contents of your document never leave Google, and there is no Pocket Tools server. The only request that goes outside is the paid license check, described below.

What it does

One thing to know about the built-in dialog

After you set a custom size, Google's own File → Page setup dialog does not understand it: it shows “Letter” in the paper size box even though the page is not Letter, and pressing OK there puts the document back to a preset — quietly undoing the custom size. This is how Docs behaves, not something an add-on can change. If it happens, open the sidebar and apply your size again.

A related quirk: if the document was ever set to landscape, a custom size can come out rotated — you apply 6″ × 9″ and the page shows 9″ × 6″. Docs keeps a hidden landscape setting that add-ons cannot see or change, so the sidebar keeps the fix in view at all times. The fix: open File → Page setup, choose Portrait, press OK (the size goes back to a preset), then apply your size in the sidebar again. Typing the numbers swapped also works in a pinch, but the document stays landscape underneath — the Page setup route is the real fix.

Pricing

Buy a license

Checkout is handled by Lemon Squeezy, the seller of record. Your license key arrives by email as soon as the payment goes through. There is no subscription, so there is nothing to cancel.

Refunds. Within 14 days of purchase, write to [email protected] and say what went wrong. No justification beyond that is required. The full wording is in the Terms of Service, section 3.

Activating your key

Your license key is on the confirmation screen right after payment, and in the receipt email. To turn on unlimited documents:

  1. In Google Docs, open Extensions › Page Size & Margins — Custom Paper Size › Open.
  2. Paste the key in the License section at the bottom of the sidebar and press Activate.

One license covers up to 3 Google accounts. To move it to a different account, press Release this account in the same place — that frees a slot.

The add-on checks the key with Lemon Squeezy at most once every seven days. A single check that cannot reach them switches nothing off: the paid features keep working for up to 14 days after the last check that did succeed. Past that, they stay off until a check gets through again. The free features are not affected either way.

The license check — the one request that leaves

When you enter a license key, the add-on sends the key and an anonymous installation identifier — and nothing else — to Lemon Squeezy, our payment processor, to check that the key is valid. Your document is never part of that request. Details are in the privacy policy.
